Common Hydra (Hydra vulgaris)
Hydra vulgaris is a freshwater hydrazoan species. They can be kept in bare dishes or bowls without any special equipment. Feed them freshly hatched Artemia nauplii several times a week, and clean the container manually after feeding. They primarily reproduce asexually through budding so expect population growth as long as you feed and clean regularly. These polyps are compatible with any traditional aquarium filtration hardware such as a HOB filter or sponge filter.
