Aurelia aurita medusae require a kreisel, pseudokreisel, or any tank with gentle circular flow to keep them suspended and prevent damage to their delicate bell. Avoid strong currents, airstones, and traditional filtration that can tear tissues. Water should be well-filtered, cycled, and free of large particulates. Feed them small zooplankton such as freshly hatched Artemia nauplii 1–2 times daily. Remove uneaten food and debris after feeding to maintain water quality. Medusae are best kept as a short-term culture for observation or experiments, while polyps can be maintained on hard substrates in separate containers and will strobilate when conditions are favorable. If you are attempting to induce strobilation in the Scyphozoan polyps this can be achieved by lowering water temperature, and/or dosing iodine (KI or I2) at very low concentrations such as 1nM.
